Welcome to Blumenau, in the South of Brazil.

There is an important immigration of German people in this region of Brazil and that means a lot of breweries. Of course in October, there is an Oktoberfest. Not a small one but the biggest one outside Germany. During two weeks, you can see more German flags than Brazilian ones. There are parades and of course a German village with music, German food and … a lot of beer-very good beer, more than 650.000 liters (172.000 Gallons) were drunk in 2012.

This photo was taken last week in the cellar of Casa Valduga, in Bento Gonçalves, Brazil.
There are 14,250 bottles of Cabernet Franc 2012, waiting to be sold.
The region of Bento Gonçalves produces 90% of the wine in Brazil and Casa Valduga makes wines of high quality, and some of them really deserve to be known.
